We believe Mike Rowe, known for “Dirty Jobs” and “Somebody’s Gotta Do It,” would love our program…
1 - Mike says we are ‘lending money that ostensibly we don't have to kids who have no hope of making it back in order to train them for jobs that clearly don't exist.’
As there are fewer internships available due to litigation and over regulation by government, AGV Sports Group continues to offer extensive opportunities to not only students, but to anyone who is willing to work hard. You will experience a unique chance to gain practical, hands-on experience in a high-demand, fast-paced environment. Unlike anything you will see in a lecture hall. A small investment of your time to make a big investment in your future.
2 - "If we want to close the skills gap, we have to work on the way we portray work, and we have to talk seriously about the fact that not all knowledge comes from college," said Rowe.
AGV Sports Group has each individual wearing many hats. Everyone who participates in this 12 week boot-camp like training program gets exposure to numerous departments. You will quickly learn what it means to grow up, have responsibilities, work under pressure, and manage your time effectively. This is not at all the same as writing a paper and turning it on time. By the time your program comes to an end, you will have a better know-how of what’s what.
3 – ‘Apprenticeships offer cost-effective access to exciting careers and on-the-job training. They provide a spark for students to pursue additional career training, oftentimes including a four-year degree. We need a “both/and” not “either/or” for choosing between a university and a skilled trade.’
We do not make you choose between college or an introduction into the work force. We are flexible and work with your schedule so you can do both at the same time. Bonus: you can get college credit! And with the involvement you will have, you may discover other areas of interest that you would like to pursue.
4 – Mike ‘challenges the absurd belief that a four-year degree is the only path to success.’
Just like there isn’t only one right way to do something, or one right way to learn, there isn’t only one path to success. Everyone has different capabilities and skillsets. What works for one person does not necessarily work for the next. Because we are fully aware of this, we aim to instruct these life skills in different ways, depending on your individual personality and what works for you.
